Boothville lies 3 miles north-east of Northampton town centre in NN3, and Dean takes on commercial painting there. Business premises here are small: the Boothville Green parade, a few shops on Booth Lane North, the community centre, the primary school and a care home on Booth Rise, and each job is phased around when the building is in use.
Who needs a commercial painter in Boothville
Boothville is mainly residential, and its non-domestic buildings are few and close together. The Boothville Green parade holds a newsagent, the TK Supermarket convenience store, a cycle shop, a hairdresser, a TV and PC repair shop, Boothville Fish Bar, The Delicious Pizza, New Sage Silver River and Ryan’s restaurant. On Booth Lane North there is a further convenience store alongside an off-licence and a greengrocer. Beyond retail there are three buildings with very different users: the community centre on Booth Lane North, where Boothville Community Church meets; Boothville Primary School on the same road; and Leys Residential Home on Booth Rise. Each of these is a different kind of client, and the way a job is run changes with them.
Moulton Park industrial estate lies nearby to the north-west, but it isn’t part of Boothville, so this page is about the small local premises. Most of them are single units with no back office or spare room to move stock into, which means the space being painted is also the space being traded from.
Takeaways and food premises on the parade

Three of the parade’s units are takeaways and one is a restaurant, so evening trade matters more there than on a typical shopping street. That shapes the timing: interior work in a takeaway is often easiest in the hours before opening, with surfaces left dry and the room aired before cooking starts. Kitchen-adjacent walls and ceilings collect grease, so they are degreased before painting and finished in a wipeable, grease-tolerant coating that can be cleaned without wearing through. Serving areas get a hard-wearing finish that stands up to daily cleaning. The convenience stores, greengrocer and off-licence trade through the day, so there the work is fitted around deliveries and quieter spells. Shelving and chiller units usually stay where they are, so we mask around fixed fittings and paint the walls they don’t hide. Food premises are also sensitive to smell, so we favour low-odour water-based products indoors where they suit the surface.
For the frontages themselves, the fascia, door and window frames, see our separate shopfront painting page.
Community buildings, the school and a care home
The larger sites call for more planning than the shops.
| Building | What drives the schedule |
|---|---|
| Boothville Primary School | Pupils on site in term time; school drop-off and pick-up traffic on Booth Lane North |
| Boothville Community Centre | Bookings and groups using rooms, including the church that meets there |
| Care home on Booth Rise | Residents living there full time, so low odour, clear walkways and room-by-room phasing |
| Parade shops | Opening hours and deliveries; small single units with no spare room |
For the school and the community centre, we agree in advance which rooms are available on which days and avoid arriving or loading during the busiest times on Booth Lane North. In a care home, residents can’t simply leave, so we work one room or corridor section at a time, keep escape routes clear and wet paint clearly signed. The way we plan around a working business is set out on our main commercial painting page.
Outside: weather, traffic and open ground

Premises here stand on high, open ground, and those nearer Kettering Road or Lumbertubs Way face busy traffic. Walls and doors on premises close to those roads gather exhaust film, which must be washed off before any coat goes on, or the paint won’t bond. Sunny, exposed elevations also dry out and fade faster, so we suggest UV-stable finishes for masonry and woodwork. Dean will visit, look at how the building is used and give a written quote with a proposed schedule. Other services in the area are listed on our Boothville page.
